About

Papperlapapp is a bilingual picture book magazine for children aged five and up. Each issue features parallel texts of equal value in two languages – German plus one other language that is prevalent in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. For this reason, each issue is now available in the following eleven language combinations: German with Albanian, Arabic, Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, Chechen, English, Farsi, French, Polish, Romanian, Turkish and Ukrainian.

Papperlapapp is published three times during the school year. Each issue focuses on a specific topic that is of interest to children (aged 5+). The magazine covers factual topics, such as outer space, electricity, dinosaurs, bees and insects, but also explores emotions like courage, anger, embarrassment, boredom, secrets and family. Every topic is presented in the form of two main stories, a comic, a hidden object game, a philosophical question, a craft activity and page 38, which gives children the space to be creative, with the content being prepared by renowned international authors and illustrators.

We ensure that all Papperlapapp content is age-appropriate and tailored to children’s needs by working with experts in the fields of child psychology, children’s and young adult literature, and theatre and early childhood education when producing every issue – from choosing the topic to checking and signing off on the texts and illustrations.

Papperlapapp magazines do not include any advertising and are printed in Austria on environmentally friendly paper that feels nice to touch.
