Nr. 29
Emotions
Recognizing, naming, and appropriately regulating emotions are skills that need to be learned from an early age—either embedded in everyday routines or specifically taught in the area of “emotional learning.” Papperlapapp No. 29 aims to help children expand and use their emotional vocabulary.
In the story A Mission for Oro K3, a robot suddenly appears out of nowhere and crashes into Dana’s sandcastle. It was sent to Earth from outer space to study human emotions. After Dana vents her anger about the destroyed sandcastle, she leads the robot Oro through the village and explains the different emotions that people here have.
In A knot in the Stomach, Lena feels great sorrow because her best friend is moving to the city. Lena’s mom immediately notices that something is bothering her child. She encourages Lena to talk about what is troubling her. Lena opens up, her mother listens, and the stone in Lena’s stomach gets smaller and smaller…
The Join In! page encourages children to draw faces with different expressions and let others guess what feelings they see in the drawings. As always, Oli and Grant are part of the fun. The beautiful Search and find! picture invites you to take a trip to the swimming pool, where individual visitors are experiencing certain emotional situations. At the end, there is space for a happy self-portrait.
